A 54-BORE PERCUSSION WHITE-METAL MOUNTED AND FULLY ENGRAVED DRESS BELT-PISTOL SIGNED CAMPBELL, no visible serial number,
made for Highland dress, second half of the 19th Century, with tapering white-metal 6in. barrel carved with two narrow and one broad raised bands at muzzle, the majority of the top half profusely engraved with floral scroll-work, the carved sighting plane engraved with a rope-twist pattern repeated at the muzzle with a further band of acanthus leaves, the barrel sides with raised panels of rope-twist designs, the underside with panels of foliage, fenced snail to breech, border and scroll engraved shaped iron sideplate signed 'CAMPBELL', scroll engraved dolphin headed hammer, borderline and fully scroll engraved panels to the slab-sided white-metal butt, both sides with central oval panels engraved with martial trophies, 'ramshorn' style heel with central detachable pricker, the tip moulded and carved as an acorn, scroll engraved back-strap with central vacant oval panel at wrist, further partial scroll engraving to front-strap, scroll engraved trigger-plate, ball-tipped trigger, iron belt-hook and ramrod (ramrod thimble absent)
